Lent begins on March 1st this year and there are lots of resources to help you mark this time of year as you prepare for Easter. Here are some recommendations.
A friend of mine, Jean Wise, spiritual director and blogger at healthyspirituality.org, has written a brand new devotional for Lent called 40 Voices. Most of the Scripture is taken from the passion week narratives. Jean does a great job of illuminating the text, and each day has a short prayer and a suggested image for you to focus on. Most of the images are things you can easily find around your house.
The Renovare Institute is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to engage their spirituality more deeply. It may be a tad late to order the physical resources in time for March 1st, but you can make a donation of any amount to Renovare and receive digital copies of their two Lenten Devotionals: ENGAGE and LESS IS MORE.
One of the Seminaries of my denomination (Presbyterian Church in Canada) is providing a fantastic devotional for free! You can get it as a full pdf or delivered daily to your email. This resource includes daily scripture readings, along with reflections and prayers written by friends of the College — whether Board members, graduates, or faculty.
